The temperature check proposal by Celo to transition to Ethereum L2 has begun voting and will end on August 1st.

BlockBeats News, on July 25th, the voting for Celo's proposal to transition to Ethereum L2 for temperature check has begun and will end on August 1st. Currently, the approval rate is 100%. It is reported that this governance proposal is a community vote to support Celo's transition from an independent EVM-compatible Layer 1 to Ethereum Layer 2, without involving architecture or design choices on how to achieve the goal of becoming Layer 2. In mid-July, the Celo development team cLabs launched a new proposal, proposing that Celo migrate from an independent EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain to Ethereum Layer 2, using the OP Stack as the architecture to become Ethereum L2. This will be a technical upgrade with key features including a decentralized sorter driven by Celo's existing validators, using the Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus mechanism; a chain off-data availability layer supported by EigenLayer and EigenDA, operated by Ethereum node operators, and protected by re-mortgaging ETH to keep Celo's fees low; and retaining the design where Celo only needs 1 block confirmation.
