BlockBeats News, November 15th, at an event in Dallas, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell was asked whether he would consider becoming the first Fed chairman in over 70 years to remain as a Fed governor after the end of his chairmanship. Chairman Powell simply stated that he would focus on completing his term as chairman.
Powell said, "I absolutely intend to serve my term in full. That's the most important thing during my term. That's what I've decided and what I'm considering."
Powell's term as a Board member will expire in January 2028. The last former chairman to continue serving as a governor after the end of their Fed chairmanship was Marriner Eccles, who stepped down as Fed chairman in January 1948 but remained (as a governor) until July 1951. (FX678)
