BlockBeats News, January 3rd, Slowmist released the "2024 Blockchain Security and Anti-Money Laundering Annual Report." In 2024, a total of 410 security incidents occurred, resulting in
a loss of up to $20.13 billion. Compared to 2023 (464 incidents with a loss of about $24.86 billion), the loss decreased by 19.02% year-on-year.
From the project track perspective, DeFi remains the most frequently attacked area. In 2024, there were a total of 339 DeFi security incidents, accounting for 82.68% of the total security incidents, with a loss of up to $10.29 billion. Compared to 2023 (282 incidents with a loss of about $7.73 billion), the loss increased by 33.12% year-on-year. In terms of ecosystem, Ethereum suffered the highest loss, reaching $4.65 billion. Next is BSC, reaching $87.35 million. In terms of the causes of incidents, the most common security incidents were due to contract vulnerabilities, reaching 99 incidents, resulting in a loss of about $2.14 billion. The next most common was security incidents caused by account compromise.
