BlockBeats News, January 22nd. According to the U.S. Department of Justice website, cryptocurrency market maker CLS Global has agreed to settle criminal charges related to its fraudulent manipulation of cryptocurrency trading volume.
As part of the criminal resolution, CLS Global will admit to charges outlined in an indictment by a Boston federal grand jury in September 2024, including one count of conspiracy to commit market manipulation and telecommunication fraud, as well as one count of telecommunication fraud. If the court approves its plea, CLS Global will also pay a total of $428,059 to the U.S. government, including seized cryptocurrency and fines, and will be prohibited from participating in the U.S. cryptocurrency market.
CLS Global is a company registered in the UAE, employing over 50 employees, all located outside the U.S. but providing cryptocurrency-related services to U.S. investors.
