BlockBeats News, on March 31, SpaceX's Crew Dragon spacecraft will kick off its sixth crewed space mission (Fram-2) on April 1, becoming the world's first-ever human extreme orbital spaceflight. The mission is expected to last 3 to 5 days. It is scheduled to launch at 11:20 on April 1, 2025, Beijing time, from Launch Pad 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Four astronauts will participate in this mission, namely Wang Chun, co-founder of F2Pool, Jannecke Mikkelsen, Labéya Rogge, and Annelik Phillips. Wang Chun's team has voluntarily undertaken nearly $200 million in costs for this mission, marking the first privately contracted polar orbital mission in the history of commercial spaceflight. Wang Chun will serve as the mission commander.
The spacecraft will enter a 90° inclination polar orbit with an orbit altitude ranging from 425 to 450 kilometers. It will operate along the polar orbit, flying from over the South Pole of Earth to the North Pole, and then back from the North Pole to the South Pole, repeating this pattern.
