BlockBeats News, April 28th, according to The Block report, Ethereum researcher Dankrad Feist proposed a gradual 100x increase to Ethereum's gas limit in the Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP-9698) released on Sunday. According to the proposal, Ethereum clients will vote to increase the gas limit following an exponential growth plan. The proposal introduces a "deterministic gas limit increase schedule," which will increase by tenfold every two years (164,250 blocks), set to start in June 2025.
If the proposal is implemented as suggested by Feist, the gas limit will increase by 100x over the next four years, rising from the current 36 million to 3.6 billion, greatly enhancing the performance of the Ethereum main network. Feist acknowledges potential challenges, such as pressure on less optimized nodes and increased block propagation times, but he believes that the gradual increases will give node operators and developers time to adapt and optimize. Fabrice Cheng, an Ethereum ecosystem developer, stated that this change theoretically would increase Ethereum's transaction processing speed to 2,000 transactions per second.
