BlockBeats News, December 19th, according to Cointelegraph's report, 10% of Ethereum validators have expressed support for increasing the maximum Gas limit for individual Ethereum blocks. Ethereum core developer Eric Connor stated that raising the Gas limit could result in a 15% to 33% reduction in transaction fees. On December 19th, the number of validators issuing Gas limits exceeding 30 million increased to 10% of the network. Prior to December, the percentage of validators advocating for a Gas limit increase was slightly above 1%. This increase followed efforts by Ethereum community members to advocate for raising the Gas limit to 36 million.
Emmanuel Awosika, Creative Director of 2077 Collective, pointed out that the current Gas limit restricts the deployment of high-demand applications, which may lead to a surge in Gas prices and impact user experience once an application becomes popular. However, Toni Wahrstätter of the Ethereum Foundation warned that excessively raising the Gas limit could jeopardize the network's decentralization features and introduce unexpected issues related to storage and bandwidth.
